In the individual event Rachael had a difficult opener against Scotland’s Alice Campbell but came through 21-15 in the deciding set, booking her place against Rachel Andrew another Scot and took only 19 minutes to clinch her place in the semi against Rachel Sugden.

However the young Alpha starlet was to find the young Scot on the top of her game having knocked out top English contender Annie Lado in straight sets and a hamstring injury to Rachael saw Sugden book her place in the final 21-8 21-11.

In the girls doubles Rachael and Rebecca were involved in a 43 minute thriller before the Lisburn twins progressed into the semi-final.

They found themselves 21-17 in arrears to England’s Kiara Henry and Pamela Reyes and mounted attack after attack before winning 25-23 21-19 to set up a meeting with Scottish pair Rachel Andrew and Rachel Cameron.

Although this was a much shorter match lasting only 23 minutes the intensity was nevertheless there and the Woods twins had the opening set snatched from their grasp 21-19 before getting back on level terms winning the second 21-17.

The deciding set saw both partnerships vying for supremacy but the Scots duo eventually progressed.
