'˜Regular' Northern Ireland football supporters will hopefully not miss out at Euro 2016 in France '“ despite reports that the team's games are already heavily oversubscribed.

Local fans have applied for over 50,000 tickets but only 25,000 are available for their three group matches this June.

Gary McAllister, spokesman for the Amalgamation of Official Northern Ireland Supporters’ Clubs, says his group held a series of meetings with the IFA during 2015 to look at the creation of a fair method for the distribution of the ticket allocation for the tournament.

“This led to the establishment of a points based loyalty/priority scheme for those fans who attended Northern Ireland’s qualification games. This increases the chances for regular supporters to secure a ticket for the games in France which has been our core objective,” he said.

“We hope that the priority scheme will allow as many of those fans as possible to attend their matches of choice during Euro 2016.”
