Declan Devine reflects on 'serious time wasted' in Larne draw and insists 'there's no white flag' despite Premiership title blow
A thrilling Premiership title race will go down to the final weekend after leaders Larne drew 0-0 with nearest rivals Glentoran at The Oval on Friday night.
The pair couldn’t be separated in East Belfast with the Inver Reds carrying a three-point advantage into next weekend’s last match – they’ll be at home to Dungannon Swifts while the Glens travel to Coleraine.
Coleraine could yet win their first Gibson Cup crown since 1974 – they’re six points adrift of Larne with two matches left to go, including a trip to Linfield on Saturday.
Here’s what Glentoran manager Declan Devine said after the match:

HOW DO YOU SUM THAT MATCH UP?
"Full of honesty, endeavour, probably lacking a wee bit of quality in the final third, but we're millimetres away. It's very fine margins tonight.
"Our approach to the game was positive. We went and played on the front foot, took the game to them, especially first half.
"There was a lot of time wasted in the game. We timed it in the first half – there was 23-and-a-half minutes the ball was in play in the first half, and that in itself tells you that Larne came for a draw, they got a draw.
"There was serious time wasted in the game. The goalkeeper was taking a minute and 15 seconds to take a goal kick, throw-ins are taking 30, 40 seconds.
"It just needed speeding up a bit, but look, the bottom line for us is we needed to win the game tonight to give us a better chance.
"We didn't, but at the same time we go in to the last game of the season needing a snooker. We're behind the black ball and we need to go and pull a snooker out.
"Hopefully we go and do our side of the bargain and see where it takes us.”
THERE’S STILL A CHANCE THOUGH?
"I've never given up a fight in my life, and the players certainly won’t.
"We'll go down there next week and give everything of ourselves, there's no doubt about it.
"It's a great game to be involved in. When there's a chance, you have to look forward. There's nobody looking back.
"We've got to make sure that we play with the intensity we've played at all year.
"We've played at a high level all year, our performances have been really positive.
"We really wanted three points tonight, we didn't get three, but we're going next week in pursuit of the three points, and hopefully we can get a positive result from Larne. It’s still all to play for.”
GOT EVERYTHING FROM THE PLAYERS AND FANS?
"It was just a final touch, some of the deliveries into the box were excellent.
"There were a couple of balls that trickled across past the back post in the second half.
"Marcus Kane hasn't played or trained in a few weeks – I thought he was absolutely immense tonight.
"The players have emptied the tank over the course of the last 10 months and it shows you how far we've come that we're walking away here tonight disappointed, but at the same time, there's no white flag, there's no way I would let that happen.
"We've got to make sure that from our side of things we approach the game in the way that we've approached every game this year, go and try and win it.
"Hopefully the ball will be in play more than 23-and-a-half minutes – I wouldn't expect any less from Coleraine because they want to have a go as well.
"So look, from our point of view, tonight was disappointing, but standing on this sideline, I'm extremely proud of the players.
"I'm extremely proud of the club because the crowd that was here tonight, I haven't seen The Oval have that crowd in a hell of a long time.
"The fans appreciate the players coming off, standing up, giving a round of applause, even though there is a sense of disappointment.
"But look, we go to the last game, we have to hold up our side of the bargain. We go to the last game with a really honest bunch of players, a real quality bunch of players.
"Losing Aaron McEneff in the first half was a loss for us, but everybody that went on that pitch tonight gave absolutely everything. As a manager, that's all you can ask for.”
