Former Ards Rangers and Ballymacash Rangers boss Lee Forsythe named as new manager at Lisburn Distillery

Lisburn Distillery have confirmed the appointment of Lee Forsythe’s as the club’s new manager.

The Whites had been on the look-out for a new manager after Stephen Hughes resigned from the post earlier this month.

Adam McCart had been in charge of team affairs over the last two weeks but Distillery have acted quickly to obtain Forysthe’s services, who has previous experience in the dugout at Ards Rangers and Ballymacash Rangers.

A statement on the club’s website reads: “Following the recent advertisement for the role of First Team Manager at Lisburn Distillery, the Board of Directors would like to thank everyone who took the time to apply and interview for the position.

"The decision has been made to appoint Lee Forsythe to the role with immediate effect and we are pleased to welcome him to New Grosvenor.

"A UEFA A Licence holder, Lee impressed the Board with his managerial experience to date, which includes two promotions with Ards Rangers and Ballymacash Rangers, three league titles and a Border Cup.

"Since getting promoted to the Premier Intermediate League with Ballymacash, the side regularly finished in the top four of the division and were often amongst the leagues highest scorers. They were also 90 minutes away from promotion to the Championship during the 22/23 season, only to lose in a play-off against Knockbreda, who Lee previously had a spell managing in the second tier.”

The statement adds that Forsythe’s first game in charge will be Saturday’s Irish Cup tie against Finaghy.

An announcement will further be made on the appointment of Forsythe’s backroom staff.
