Glentoran submit plans for redevelopment of The Oval

Glentoran Football Club have submitted a planning application to Belfast City Council for the redevelopment of the club's stadium.

The application outlines plans to replace the existing spectator stand at The Oval with two new 4,000 capacity all-seater stands as well as redevelop the terracing behind both goals to accommodate 2,000 people.

It's understood the project could cost between £8m and £10m and would also include new turnstiles, additional car parking, improved circulation routes and the installation of a new playing surace.

Glentoran are one of several Irish League club's waiting on the release of funds from the government sub regional funding, but it is understood substantial investment from club's owners will also be required to make the proposal a reality.
