Irish League manager determined to deliver more silverware success after signing long-term contract extension
Dungannon Swifts manager Rodney McAree is determined to deliver more trophy glory at his beloved club after signing a new contract extension until 2030.
McAree returned to his hometown side from Glentoran in 2023 and has since masterminded a historic period of success, guiding the Swifts to a first Irish Cup crown last term alongside a joint-best Premiership finish of fourth.
Dungannon also returned to the European stage last summer, beating Vaduz away in Liechtenstein before losing out in extra-time at Solitude in the Conference League’s second qualifying round.
The Co Tyrone club remain on track to secure consecutive top-half league finishes, currently sitting fifth ahead of Saturday’s clash against Glentoran at Stangmore Park.

Widely regarded as one of the Irish League’s best coaches, McAree has committed his future to Dungannon and wants to experience more highs.
"Just to be part of it, I’ve really enjoyed it since I came back,” he said. “We’ve tasted some success and we want to try and taste some more as well.
"It’s nice to show commitment to the club as well, it’s something I wanted to show and I’m happy and content where I am. I’m very ambitious where I am as well.
"I grew up at the club and have been coming to matches since I’ve been able to walk. There’s good people about the club, my family is steeped in the tradition of the club.
"My wife Adele’s family have been lifelong supporters too so it’s nice to give something back. Hopefully we can continue the success we’ve had.”
