The Northern Irishman moved to the Serie B side in the summer, joining the likes of Jeremy Menez and German Denis.

However, after 11 appearances in all competitions and two goals the 33-year-old has left after an agreement with the club to terminate his contract.

Reggina were hoping to make a push for promotion but currently sit 14th.

A club statement said: “President Luca Gallo and Reggina announce that they have reached an agreement with the player Kyle Lafferty for the early consensual termination of the contract.

“Thanking Kyle for his professionalism, Reggina wishes him the best sporting fortunes.”

It was Lafferty’s second spell in Italy following a stint at Palermo earlier in his career.

The striker hasn’t found the goalscoring form he enjoyed at Tynecastle since leaving Hearts for Rangers. He has since played for Sunderland and Norwegian side Sarpsborg 08 FF.
