Paul Owens pleased to keep 'much loved' winger amongst his pack at Limavady United
Limavady United have been handed a boost with the news that winger John Butcher has agreed terms on a new deal to remain with the Premiership new-boys.
Butcher was in fine form for the Roesiders last season as his 20 goals helped Paul Owens’ side win the Championship title and return to the top-flight for the first time since 2008.
The 23-year-old was named as the NIFWA Championship Player of the Month for April as his strong end to the campaign proved vital as Limavady edged out Annagh United in the battle for automatic promotion.
Unsurprisingly, the highly-rated Butcher has had plenty of admirers during his time at Limavady but he has chosen to extend his tenure at the north-west side.

"Everyone at the club is delighted that John has extended his contract,” Owens said.
"John has played a huge part in the journey from the PIL to the Premiership and his development has been incredible.
"John’s 20 goals were instrumental in last season’s Championship winning success.
"We are all delighted that he sees his long-term future with Limavady United.
"John is loved by everyone around the club and this will come as a massive boost to everyone.”
Elsewhere, Newry City have announced that Jack Chambers has also agreed to prolong his stay at The Showgrounds.
The 25-year-old midfielder, who had spells at West Bromwich Albion and Luton Town, made 32 appearances for the club last season, scoring twice.
"As soon as Stuarty wanted me to stay for next season, it was a no brainer to sign again," Jack told Newry City’s social media platforms.
"I’ve loved it ever since joining Newry, a big part of that is the warm welcome from the fans. We got the job done that we set out to do last season in terms of promotion.
"The aim for the upcoming season is to meet our targets again. We're obviously in a much tougher league, but it's something we're all looking forward to."
"Jack's quality shines through," said manager Stuart King.
"He now has a full season of playing regular senior football and now is the time for him to kick on. He will play a big part for us next season."
