ICE HOCKEY: Belfast Giants in 6-3 win over Coventry Blaze

Sheffield Steelers claimed a dramatic 3-2 win over Cardiff Devils to revive hopes of claiming the Elite League title.

The Steelers moved to within six points of the Devils after Fredrik Vestberg and Ryan Hayes scored late in the final quarter to snatch victory. Ryan Russell had given them an early lead as Sheffield proved too much for the league leaders, who hit back through Jason Hewitt and Carl Hudson.

Braehead Clan kept up the pressure on the top two with a 4-2 win over Dundee Stars at the Braehead Arena.

The visitors went ahead through Justin Faryna in the second quarter, and after Tristan Harper’s penalty levelled it at 1-1 the lead was restored through Brett Switzer.

However Ben Davies grabbed a second equaliser before powerplay goals from Rik Jackman and Scott Aarssen sealed the win to leave them a point behind the Steelers.

Belfast Giants withstood a spirited effort from Coventry Blaze to record a 6-3 win, while bottom club Ediburgh Capitals remain rooted to the foot of the table after going down 7-1 to Fife Flyers.

Shane Madolora made 27 saves for a shut-out in a 4-0 win over Manchester Storm, with goals from Matthew Myers, Andy Bohmbach, Juraj Kolnik and Robert Farmer recording a comfortable win for Nottingham Panthers.
