Kirkistown hosts 'Big 3 Series' grand finale at round eight of Ulster Superbike Championship

The eighth round of the Ulster Superbike Championship takes place on Saturday at Kirkistown in Co Down with the Belfast and District Club’s ‘Big 3 Series’ finale.

The 14-race programme features the King of Kirkistown Superbike races and the Crown Prince of Kirkistown Supersport events.

With double points available, Ryan Gibson, Jonny Campbell and Ross Irwin will be fighting it out to be crowned King of Kirkistown, with the trio separated by only nine points.

Campbell is on 70 points in the mini-series with Gibson and Irwin both tied in second on 61 points.

Lisburn rider Campbell will also have his sights set on his top objective of extending his lead in the Ulster Superbike Championship as he bids to win the crown for the first time on the Magic Bullet Yamaha R1.

Ballynahinch man Korie McGreevy has been in red-hot form this season in the Supersport class in particular and will be gunning for another double to secure the Crown Prince of Kirkistown title on the McAdoo Racing Kawasaki.

McGreevy trails Randalstown’s Christian Elkin by 10 points and can guarantee the Kirkistown title with a perfect brace to deny his fellow former British champion.

Elkin is also a major player in the Supertwin races for the President’s Cup and leads McGreevy by 46 points, which all but assures him the accolade barring an unforeseen turn of events.

Practice is scheduled to get underway on at approximately 9am.

Admission is £15, with children under 16 free when accompanied by an adult.
