Glenn McCormick confident ahead of British Grand Prix assignment at Fox Hills
Glenoe motocross rider Glenn McCormick heads to this weekend’s British Grand Prix at Fox Hills in a confident mood after finishing ninth overall in round six of the Motul MXGB at Canada Heights.
Riding the Chambers 250 KTM, McCormick qualified 11th despite struggling to find a clear lap in traffic.

“I was happy with that, considering I never made a clean lap due to the number of bikes on track,” said McCormick.
He carried that form into race one, making a strong start and running third before a setback, regrouping to join the battle for sixth and eventually taking seventh at the flag after a few late mistakes.

Race two brought a tougher start, with McCormick outside the top 20 in the early stages, but two strong opening laps helped him recover to 10th and secure a solid overall result.
“I made a mistake off the start but put together two good opening laps, which pulled me through to 10th,” he said. “It was a solid day, and now I’m focused on switching onto the 450 KTM for this weekend’s Grand Prix.”
In the MX1 class, Loughbrickland’s Jason Meara was on course for a top-eight overall finish on the Moto-Cycle Yamaha before a heavy crash in the restarted second race.
Meara qualified ninth fastest and finished eighth in race one. He was again running eighth in race two when red flags were shown after Honda rider Bobby Bruce crashed heavily at the final step-up.

On the restart, Meara moved up to seventh but suffered a major crash on lap three. Thankfully, he escaped serious injury.
“I was within a second of where we want to be in qualifying...so happy with that,” said Meara. “In race one, I got a really good start, lying inside the top six before I got an arm pump and dropped back a bit, but still finished eighth.
"In race two, I had a bad start but charged through to seventh within two laps. Unfortunately, I made a silly mistake and had a big crash, knocking myself silly, but thankfully it’s all good, and we will move on to the next one.”
Seaforde’s Nathan Green scored points with his best-ever British MX1 race result in the second moto. He admitted he was disappointed with qualifying, which left him 22nd.

“I didn’t do myself justice in qualifying, but it was so difficult to get a clean lap,” said Green.
His luck did not improve in race one, where he finished 22nd.
“I thought the gearbox had packed up, as I was stuck in third gear for most of the race,” he said. “When we checked it out, we found a stone lodged under the gear lever. I was still a bit apprehensive at the start of race two, but the gearbox was working perfectly.”
Green was 16th before the red flags and, after the restart, was inside the top 10 before eventually taking 15th.
“I made a better start in the restarted race two, running inside the top 10 before drifting back to fifteenth,” he stated. “It was a new track to me, but I was delighted to score my best- ever British finish. It’s small steps, but all progress.”
In the 125 class, Castlewellan’s Alfie Herron qualified 16th and finished eighth in both races to take eighth overall.
