Children's month of creativity at Roe Valley Arts

Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre will celebrate its annual Children's Month with a feast of events during August.

Families can enjoy a fabulous line-up of enchanting theatre, exhibitions, workshops and the very popular Film Fridays. There will also be activities for early years children devised in partnership with SureStart.

Quality family theatre kicks off with the award winning Scottish based Clydebuilt Theatre who will present Dinosaur Detectives. The must-see show for any dinosaur enthusiast takes place on Tuesday August 1 at 2pm. Combining puppetry, music, projection and audience interaction, it is an afternoon not to be missed.

A traditional outdoor marionette retelling of Little Red Riding Hood will be performed at 12 noon and 2pm on Saturday August 12. Dublin based theatre company Moon and Sixpence will entertain families with the performance in Drumceatt Square.

Children can also enjoy the award winning Puca Puppets as they present the enchanting Little Yellow Bear on Tuesday August 15 at 12 noon and 2pm. Aimed at 3–7 year olds, the magical performance has elements of music, puppetry and film and explores the world of lullabies and sleep.

The wonderful Banyan Theatre will present the magical tale of Tom Thumb for children aged 3-11 years on Saturday August 19 at 2pm whilst Quantum Theatre will close the theatrical performances presenting Alice Through the Looking Glass on Tuesday August 22 at 12 noon.

The popular Family Film Fridays include classics such as The Jungle Book on August 4, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory on August 11 and Finding Dory on August 18.

August Children’s Month will close with the fantastic Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice free Family Fun Day on Saturday August 26 from 2pm. With live music, a bouncy castle and barbecue it is sure to be a fun-filled day for everyone.
