For sixty-five years, Desertmartin Accordion Band has been part of the life of the local community. From 1961 to 2026, the music, the friendships and the memories have been carried from one generation to the next.
This new anniversary book, Marching Forward with Purpose, celebrates that journey.
Our Story
The book brings the story of the band together through photographs, stories, poems and articles. It looks back on the people, occasions and memories that have shaped sixty-five years, while keeping an eye firmly on the road ahead.
At its heart is a simple idea:
Honour the past. Cherish the present. Encourage the generations still to come.
Music, Fellowship an Community
An accordion band is more than instruments and tunes. It is people coming together, learning from one another and keeping a musical tradition alive.
That sense of community runs through the anniversary book and through the celebration itself. The poster brings those strands together through the accordion band, the church setting, the historic photographs and the familiar welcome of a coffee morning.

The anniversary is not only about looking back.

The anniversary book will be launched at the band's coffee morning at St. Lurachs Church Hall, on Saturday 14th November, from 10am until 12 mid-day.
With coffee, something sweet on the table and plenty of conversation, it is an opportunity to mark 65 years of Desertmartin Accordion Band and celebrate the launch of the new book.
