Ben Lowry Memorial fly fishing Competition.
The Ben Lowry Memorial Competition is a charity fly fishing competition, held by Mossley Mill and Three Mile Water Angling Association, in aid of, this year, the Air Ambulance. The recipient charity being chosen each year by Ben's father, Brian.

The competition is held over a week with three heats and a 2hr final on the Saturday. This is a friendly, if highly contested by all the anglers, competition with 2 anglers going through from each heat into the final on the Saturday.
The final got off to a great start with several anglers connecting with fish and many " released at distance" because of the barbless hooks rule. Mr Gavin Acheson and Mr Jim McCrea were the early leaders with 3 fish apiece and with a 5 fish finish line it was all to play for. The other anglers had 1 fish each at the mid point and Jim had stretched to a slight lead with 4 fish. A quick change of fly landed Jim with a 5th fish and the win. Gavin followed with 2 fish in quick succession to claim second and Mr Josh Anderson landed one in the last minute of the competition to claim third position.

A successful competition with over £1400 being raised for the Air Ambulance.
Our thanks go to all the members and their families who took part and donated and also Shelly's Deli, Mid Antrim Angling Centre and Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council for their continued support.
