Brandr, the research-based brand intelligence platform built to help businesses measure, benchmark and strengthen their brand, has officially launched in the UK & Ireland through a new partnership with Belfast branding agency Horrible Brands.

The launch was marked at The Strategic Value of Brand, a Belfast event organised by Treena Clarke of BMMU in partnership with Horrible Brands and Brandr. The event brought together marketing leaders, business owners, brand strategists and senior decision-makers for a morning focused on one of the biggest challenges facing modern businesses: proving the value of brand at board level.

Brand has long been recognised as one of the most powerful drivers of trust, preference, loyalty and long-term business growth. However, for many organisations, it has also been one of the hardest areas to measure clearly.

While performance marketing often feels measurable, brand can still feel harder to defend. That creates the wrong conversation in many boardrooms. Instead of asking how strong the brand is and how it can be improved, too many organisations are still forced to ask why they should invest in brand at all.

Brandr has been developed to change that.

The platform helps organisations understand how their brand is perceived by the people who matter most, including customers and employees. Through structured surveys, benchmarking, brand scores and easy-to-understand reporting, Brandr gives leadership teams a clearer view of brand health, customer perception, internal alignment and the areas that deserve strategic focus.

Its core tools include brandr Index, which measures the strength of external brand positioning, and Employer Index, which measures how employees experience the brand internally. Together, they offer organisations a more complete picture of how brand is understood, felt and acted upon both inside and outside the business.

Horrible Brands said it was honoured to partner with Brandr for the UK & Ireland launch, particularly given Brandr’s proven international track record and experience working with global brands including Vodafone, Domino’s Pizza, IKEA, Toyota, Octopus Energy and a wide range of energy brands.

The partnership also marks another major step forward for Horrible Brands, which is moving from strength to strength just three years after launching. Last year, the Belfast agency celebrated a landmark double awards win, being named among the UK’s Top 25 Agencies for Brand Positioning and winning Creative StartUp of the Year NI 2025.

In a previous News Letter article, Horrible Brands was described as cementing its position as one of Northern Ireland’s leading forces in branding. The article highlighted that the agency, co-founded by Kris Byers and Aidan Harbinson, was the only agency from Northern Ireland to feature in the UK Top 25 Agencies for Brand Positioning list.

The launch event featured contributions from a range of speakers on the importance of branding and creative to business growth; including from Dr Fridrik Larsen, founder of Brandr, who delivered a keynote on the financial benefits of brand and the importance of measuring brand strength.

The Belfast launch also represented the first official Horrible Brands event, creating a new space for more honest and commercially focused conversations around brand, marketing leadership and business growth.

The partnership between Brandr and Horrible Brands will give businesses across the UK and Ireland access to a platform designed to make brand measurement faster, clearer and more actionable. It is particularly relevant for CEOs, founders, marketing leaders, brand teams, HR and employer branding teams, agencies and consultants who want to better understand how their brand is performing and where to focus next.

The team is currently looking for a small number of trial clients in the UK and Ireland.
