'A prime location': Job busting £15m DHL distribution centre approved in Northern Ireland after 16-week planning process
The 100,000 sq ft facility in Newtownabbey will create 80 jobs, retain 200 existing roles and support a further 100 construction jobs during the build
A new £15m DHL distribution centre in Newtownabbey has secured planning approval, paving the way for a major investment and jobs boost for the area.

The facility at Ballyearl Business Park will provide around 100,000 sq ft of storage and distribution space, alongside offices, ancillary services, solar panels and an external yard with HGV and car parking.
The wider development represents an estimated £18m investment in the local economy and is expected to create 80 full-time jobs, while helping to retain around 200 existing positions. A further 100 construction jobs will be supported during the development phase.
Antrim and Newtownabbey Planning Committee approved the application in just over 16 weeks, significantly ahead of the council’s 30-week target.
Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Henry Cushinan, welcomed the investment, saying the facility would help retain DHL Supply Chain within the borough while creating additional employment in the construction and distribution sectors.
He explained: "I welcome this major investment for Newtownabbey. This new facility will help retain DHL supply chain within the borough while creating additional employment in both construction and distribution sectors.”
Chairman of Antrim and Newtownabbey Planning Committee, Alderman Lewis Boyle, said the development further reinforced the borough’s position as a leading location for distribution: "Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough is a prime location for distribution, this multimillion investment further underpins the Borough’s reputation as a hub for distribution excellence."
