Silverwood Blondes tops at Carlisle

Blonde bulls were highly sought after in Carlisle with the top price of 4,500gns going to Silverwood Luis bred by Norman McKnight from Co. Down.

This junior bull weighing 640kg born May 2015 sired by Ardmore Gargoyle was bought by the show judge Chris Shenton from the Bridge herd in Cheshire.

Selling at 4,400gns was Hallfield Jagger from P Weightman & Son, sired by Blackwater Ainsley and grandson of Druk Lance having taken the ribbons for Reserve Junior Male in the presale show. Jagger weighed in at 828kg and sold to Mr Wilson from Barnard Castle.

Hallfield Jude born November 2014, Junior and reserve overall male champion in the show saw the hammer drop at 4,000gns to JJ Horne from North Yorkshire. As with his stablemate he was sired by Blackwater Ainsley and weighed in at 763kg.

Hallfiel Jose again from the same stable as the two previous bulls was the bull that caught the eye of the judge on the day collecting the ribbons for breed champion sired by the Hallfield Stock bull Blackwater Ainsley. Jose weighed in at 1,006kg and will make his way to H Griffiths’ holding in Gwenedd.

Silverwood Leo, once again from Norman McKnight, sired by the French bull Aneto out of Silverwood Eve who won the Junior championship at the Royal Balmoral show in 2010 was the bull that caught the eye of Mike Harrison from Shap, Cumbria, selling at 3,400gns, for this March 2015 bull.

Not far behind was Silverwood Len once again from Norman McKnight, sired by Ardmore Gargoyle and grandson to Blackwater Ainsley reached 2,300gns and saw his way to breeder John Gibb from Northumberland.

Local breeder Alistair Mitchell from Penrith sold two bulls, the first being Hutton Jet sired by Hadley Esquire born December 2014 who saw the hammer drop at 2,500gns to BJ Stonehouse from Scarborough and the second was Hutton Joe sired by Ark Geigo saw the tipping of the scales at 782kgs, born December 2014 sold at 2,000gns to JA Bilsborrow for 2,000gns.

Copperbeech Jammy Dodger born February 2014 from Roger and Natasha Moore from Kings Lynn was sired by Fronfedw First Class and grandson to the Royal Welsh show champion Fronfedw Virgil. He saw the hammer drop at 2,000gns to Mr Roberts from Fife.

Top priced female from MAG Sporran, female champion and reserve overall was Eilean Jackie sired by Ballygowan Noble, out of Druk Lance daughter Eilean Bheag sold to BT Atkinson from Ulverston for 1,950gns.

Bostock Illusion born February 2013 sired by Aaron Edoras out of Royal Welsh Champion Bostock Destinee with her Sauveur calf at foot from Charlotte Boden, Cheshire was sold to P Marsden from High Peak, Derbyshire for 1,900gns.

Female champion Eilean Jackie, an August born heifer from MAG McSporran sired by Ballygowan Noble and granddaughter to Druk Lance reached 1950gns and heads to BT Atkinson in Ulverston.

Eilean Jazzy another August born heifer this time sired by Bridge Elmo out of Eilean Ezra was snapped up for 1,550gns going to Mr Roberts from Dunfermline, Fife.
