Texel sheep stolen from Londonderry field

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following the report of theft of livestock from a field on the Trench Road in the Londonderry area.

Chief Inspector Ivor Morton said:“It was reported that between the hours of 9.00am on Tuesday 7th February and 9.30am on Thursday 9th February, 43 white faced Texel Ewe lambs were stolen from a field close to the Trench Road and Duncastle Road junction. Some of the ewes may have an ear tag saying ‘#770800’ and all of ewes were marked with red on their rears and an orange mark between their shoulders.

“We are appealing to anyone that may have any information or to anyone that may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area at the time or to anyone that may have been offered similar livestock for sale in suspicious circumstances to contact Strand Road Police Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 764 on 09/02/17.

“Or, alternatively if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
