Tyrone construction firm announces £1.5m expansion plan

Co. Tyrone construction firm Western Building Systems have announced a £1.5 million investment in their production facilities.

The off-site construction specialists have invested nearly £1.2 million in a new 30,000sq foot factory at their Coalisland Headquarters, complete with two 20 tonne overhead cranes.

The company, established in 1982, has also extended their fleet, with four new vehicles and made further investments in the window and kitchen division, modernising their production facilities.

This investment comes as the company have announced a 5 per cent growth in employment with the firm.

Welcoming the news operations director Declan McCloskey said that the additional factory space would allow the company to continue to extend their markets.

“The new 30,000 sq foot factory has already proven invaluable to us with over £7 million worth of contracts passing through our new facility in 2016.

“This additional production capacity will allow Western to continue to grow our markets in both the UK and Ireland over the next 5-10 years.

“As well as growing our production capacity we have also added to our work force with a five percent increase in employment over the course of the last year.

“This shows the strength and the health of our business and our business model.”

In recent months Western Building Systems has been named among Investec’s Mid-Market 100, a list of the fastest growing private Mid-Market Companies in the UK.

Western are one of only five Northern Irish companies to make the cut.

Among the projects Western are currently working on are a new €18 million (£14.3m) education campus in Ashbourne, Co. Meath and the construction of schools throughout Dublin valued at more than €15m (£12m).

The company have recently agreed to build a facility at St James’ Hospital in Dublin, as well as a projects at the University of Essex and the University of Leeds.
