NI records lowest number of new daily infections in six months

Northern Ireland has recorded its lowest number of new daily Covid-19 infections in six months.

For the first time since September the total number of new infections detected in the last 24 hours was down to double figures (87).

It means the total number of new infections in the last seven days and since the pandemic began last years now stand at 1,050 and 116,019 respectively.

Unfortunately, one person who tested positive for Covid-19 within the last 28 days died in the 24 hours 10.00am on Monday morning.

The total number of Covid related deaths in Northern Ireland according to the Department of Health since the beginning of the pandemic now stands at 2,105.

As of midnight on Sunday, there were 160 inpatients with Covid-19 in hospitals across Northern Ireland.

There were also 101 intensive care unit (ICU) beds; 15 beds occupied by patients with Covid; 68 beds occupied by patients with non-Covid conditions and 18 beds unoccupied.

Northern Ireland's hospital bed capacity is currently at 96 per cent.
