More than 4,000 Covid fines issued by PSNI

PSNI officers have issued more than 4,000 fines and prohibition notices related to coronavirus regulations, the latest figures reveal.

The running total since the beginning of the pandemic now stands at 3,264 fines and 835 prohibition notices (136 commercial premises/699 private) issued.

Of that total, 49 were £1,000 fines for failing to self-isolate. A total of 1,604 Community Resolution Notice (CRN) warnings issued – up from 1,476 last week.

The vast majority of the fines or warnings were issued in the Belfast City Council area (2,383 fines and 509 CRNs). Next was Derry City and Strabane (700 fines and 198 CRNs),

The fewest have been handed out in the Lisburn and Castlereagh council area (63 fines and 30 CRNs).
