Security alert shuts Londonderry train station: Avoid area, say police, as Translink state services hit and section of line closed
Londonderry’s train station has been shut by a security alert.
Police are at the scene, and several roads have been closed including the lower deck of Craigavon Bridge – one of three routes in the city crossing the River Foyle.

Also closed off are Foyle Road, Dales Corner and Simpsons Brae, routes on both sides of the Foyle that lead to the station,
Stated a PSNI spokeswoman: “We would ask that the public avoid the wider area at this time.
“An update will follow in due course.”
Both trains and buses are being hit, with Translink saying the train line between Londonderry station and Bellarena in the countryside has been closed as a result of the security alert.
The firm subsequently announced that buses that serviced through Duke Street and Waterside Link, home to a major transport hub next to the station, are also affected.
“Foyle Metro, Ulsterbus and Goldliner services will be disrupted and delayed as a result,” Translink stated on social media.
