Man's ear torn as attacker bites him in east Belfast

A man, 31, has had his earlobe ripped in an attack in east Belfast.

He had been bitten by one of the assailants, who set upon him, a 30-year-old man, and a 28-year-old woman as they walked along the Albertbridge Road, east Belfast, at about 11.15pm on Saturday close to the junction with Lord Street.

The woman received minor injuries to her arm but the injuries to the men – including the one whose ear was bitten – were described by police as “substantial”.

The assault was carried out by “a number of males”.

Detective Sergeant Keith Wilson said: “I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the assault or has information about it, to contact detectives from Reactive and Organised Crime at Musgrave Street on 101.

“Alternatively, information can be given anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
