Two people are injured after a Christmas Eve stabbing in Bangor, Co Down
Two people have been taken to hospital, both injured, following a stabbing attack in Bangor on Christmas Eve.
Police remained at the scene on Christmas Day after the incident in the Chippendale Avenue area of the town, conducting enquiries.

A PSNI statement in the name of a Chief Inspector Rocks (no first name given) said: “At approximately 3.30pm yesterday, Wednesday 24th December, police received and responded to a report that a man, who was armed with a hammer and a knife, had entered a residential property and assaulted a woman aged in her 50s and a man aged in his 20s, before leaving the scene on foot, still armed.
“They were both taken to hospital for treatment for their injuries.”

On Christmas Eve, one of the two victims had been reported to be in a critical condition.
Inspector Rocks continued: “An investigation is under way, and efforts are being made to locate the suspect, who is described as being approximately 5ft 10 ins in height, with short, dark hair, and wearing a blue hoodie, a grey coat, a dark coloured t-shirt, blue jeans, and dark trainers with white soles.”
The statement said: “Enquiries remain ongoing, and anyone who may have any information which could assist – including CCTV or other footage – is also asked to contact police.”
The stabbing happened while police were appealing for witnesses over another attack in Co Down after a man was slashed by masked men in Banbridge on Tuesday night. The PSNI say he was attacked by a number of men outside a hotel in the Lurgan Road area.
One of the suspects reportedly got out of a car in front of the hotel and threw a liquid in the man’s face. He then tried to run away but fell and was slashed multiple times across his back before the men drove off.
In a statement the PSNI said: “The males involved in the attack had their faces covered and it is believed they were driving a black Toyota Avensis.”
Officers received reports of the attack at around 8.30pm and attended the scene with the ambulance service.
Enquiries into the Bangor stabbing are ongoing.
Inspector Rocks said: “We are urging members of the public not to approach him if they see him, but to create a safe distance and contact police immediately on 101, and quote reference number 914 of 24/12/25.
