David McNarry: Joe Biden is no friend of unionism and he will form part of an Ireland-EU-US alliance

Be under no illusions!

Joe Biden portrays the dutiful party political Democrat but he is sculpted from bitter Irish republicanism and is an enemy to unionism. His election will prompt a rejuvenated Irish National Caucus stomping across Ireland and America stirring up talk of a sectarian headcount.

It is perfectly plausible for a president to unite his own country. But President elect Biden cannot justify initiating unification in Ireland.

Nor can he get away with pledging to ‘heal’ America when working to derail the peace and healing process in our community.

More ominous than a sell-out Brexit and the undermining of the Belfast Agreement by Irish nationalism (which is going uncontested by unionism) looms a Dublin-Brussels–Washington alliance driving forward a well-funded joint dollar/euro campaign enhancing the prospect of an early border poll.

Are the unionist leaders connected to their supporters and able to inform them that they are organised, united and prepared to prevent a poll from proceeding?

We have now also had the House of Lords acting to protect a treacherous EU Withdrawal Agreement.

A bunch of silk and ermine elevated charlatans voted to veto part five of the Internal Market Bill — the section which potentially safeguards our interests.

Commenting on the bill, the News Letter Morning View of October 22 said: ”It is important that Parliament passes it.” (‘The political intervention of the archbishops over the Internal Market Bill is highly regrettable’)

While greatly comforted by the paper’s editorial passion and common sense, regretfully it is glaringly obvious that once again the unionist leaderships are struggling to match the fighting spirit of their core supporters.

Had it not been for respect for the fact that Covid-19 is having a devastating impact on all communities, there would have been significant extensive demonstrations of large scale resentment against the Boris border betrayal.

Such protests would have reflected disdain at the leaderships’ inability to challenge the contempt with which unionists are treated.
