Coronavirus: Belfast turns blue as householders across NI applaud NHS in unison

Landsmarks in Belfast were illuminated blue this evening, as a sign of solidarity with the Province’s beleagured NHS.

As well as Victoria Square, The MAC theatre, Albert Clock and City Hall in Belfast, residential streets across the country erupted with applause for doctors, nurses and other staff working to fight the coronavirus.

Unison the union had written earlier in the evening, saying that the applause really reflected the esteem all public servants are held in, not just the NHS: “Join the #clapforourcarers at 8pm.

“For the health and social care workers, the teachers and support staff, the retail workers, the postal and delivery workers, for everyone working to keep our country going in a crisis.”
