Play areas set to reopen in Mid Ulster in early July

Following safety inspections at all sites, signage will be installed to remind visitors of the need to follow appropriate hygiene measures and adhere to social distancing requirements when using the areas.

Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Cathal Mallaghan welcomed the news, saying, “Access to opportunities for unstructured play is vitally important so that children can enjoy the health benefits of exercising and playing outdoors. Children who do so have been shown to be happier, healthier, more confident and less anxious.

“We know it’s been a long time for our families to go without play areas, especially for those with limited outdoor space to play, and it is due to the personal sacrifice of so many that we can all start to enjoy activities and places we once did without even thinking about it. To continue that progress, we are asking visitors to our play areas to ‘play’ their own part in keeping themselves safe by adhering to all the safety guidance in place.”
