SuperValu and Centra recall salmon and prawn cocktail products after Listeria found - recalled products list

Listeria monocytogenes has been found in a number of SuperValu and Centra salmon and prawn cocktail products.

SuperValu and Centra are recalling salmon and prawn cocktail products because Listeria monocytogenes has been found in them.

The Food Standards Agency says symptoms caused by Listeria monocytogenes can be similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea. However, in rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications, such as meningitis.

Some people are more vulnerable to listeria infections, including those over 65 years of age, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babies less than one month old and people with weakened immune systems.

The agency says point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling the products, explaining to customers why the products are being recalled and advising them what to do if they have bought the products.

The agency’s advice to customers who have bought any of the products is to not eat the food and return the products to where they were purchased for a full refund.
