Venezuela striker Kevin Kelsy ‘ready for new chapter’ after making Rangers move
Kevin Kelsy hopes to “bring some joy” to Rangers fans after his move to Ibrox was confirmed as the Scottish Premiership transfer window closed.
The 22-year-old Venezuela striker has been recruited from Portland Timbers on an initial four-year contract with the option of an additional year, in a deal reportedly worth around £9.5million.

The Light Blues are also understood to have completed a loan deal for Stuttgart winger Badredine Bouanani, which is expected to be announced later.
Kelsy will replace Portuguese striker Youssef Chermiti, who is out long term with an ACL injury, and he is keen to make his mark on the Gers supporters.
Kelsy told the club’s official website: “I’ve heard a lot about the club. Even when I was younger, I saw the team in Europe. I know what the club means to the fans.
“I would love to bring some joy to the fans and the club, and score goals to bring amazing moments to the team.
“I know we have to win all the games and play well, and I’ll be ready for this with my teammates.
“I’m ready for this new chapter in my life.”
Kelsy came through the ranks of Mineros de Guayana in his home country then moved to Uruguayan outfit Boston River for a short spell before joining Shakhtar in January, 2023.
He joined Portland Timbers from Shakhtar in January, 2025 after a loan spell at FC Cincinnati.
Boss Derek McInnes said: “We’re really pleased to welcome Kevin to the club.
“He’s an exciting player with a lot of attributes, and what really stood out in our conversations is how hungry he is to make an impact.
“He’ll bring real quality to an area of the pitch we have been keen to strengthen, and his arrival gives us another exciting option going forward.
“Kevin has a great attitude and a real desire to improve, and we’re looking forward to seeing what he can bring at Rangers.”
Rangers rejected a loan bid from Besiktas for Nico Raskin on Wednesday, but allowed Thelo Aasgaard to leave for Anderlecht on a temporary basis, with the Belgians paying a fee and having the option to buy the Norway midfielder.
The Premiership window closed at 5pm on Thursday.
