John McGuinness officially confirmed to continue with Honda Racing UK for 2027 North West 200 and Isle of Man TT

Isle of Man TT legend John McGuinness has been officially confirmed as part of Honda Racing UK’s line-up for the major road races in 2027.

The 23-time TT winner will remain in the factory squad alongside Dean Harrison for the North West 200 and TT next year on the all-new Honda Fireblade.

Harrison, this year’s Superbike and Senior TT winner, will also compete in the British Superbike Championship for a full season alongside reigning champion and new signing Kyle Ryde and Ryan Vickers.

McGuinness marked the 30th anniversary of his TT debut this year and will reach another milestone next season when he is poised to make his 100th start at the North West 200 from May 11-15.

“I’m really pleased that I’m staying with Honda for 2027,” said the Morecambe man.

“We were fast in 2026 and if the weather had played ball at the TT, we’d have had more seat time. It wasn’t to be though, so to be heading back as teammate to Dean and with an all new bike to race is fantastic.

“I have my 100th race start at the NW200 to look forward to as well, it’s going to be an excellent year for road racing.”

Yorkshireman Harrison was a cut above his rivals on the Honda Superbike at the TT this year and the 37-year-old is brimming with confidence as he looks ahead to next year.

“My performance at the TT in 2026 was, in my opinion, the strongest I’ve ever been,” Harrison said. “The confidence that gives me for next year should not be underestimated.

“I have no worries at all about developing the new Fireblade to suit my style and I can’t wait to see how we cope with the demands of a new bike.

“My crew chief Stew Millen and our data man Bob Grey are excellent, we work really well together and I know that we’ll be in a good place.”

Harrison enjoys working alongside McGuinness and said he was “proud” to have the opportunity to develop the 2027 Fireblade alongside the vastly experienced 54-year-old.

“Having John as a teammate only improves our outlook for 2027,” added Harrison, who finished fourth in this year’s British Supersport Championship in his first full season in the class.

“I think we work really well together and I’m proud to share the awning with him again. Aside from being mates, there’s a lot of experience to make use of from both of us.

“This lifts the mood in the Honda camp and we all benefit from feeling positive.”

Harrison will go into the 2027 TT as the favourite in the blue riband Superbike class on the back of his performance in June.

He won the Superbike race by over 15 seconds from Peter Hickman (8TEN Racing BMW) with Michael Dunlop 12.4s further back in third on the /MD Racing Hawk Racing Honda.

The showpiece Senior race was declared a result after a single lap following a red flag crash involving Finland’s Erno Kostamo.

Harrison was in total control at the time of the stoppage, lapping at a blistering 135.166mph from a standing start on the first lap to lead Hickman by more than 12 seconds.

The Honda rider was on course to shatter Hickman’s 136mph outright lap record on the second lap when the red flag went out.

In 2025, he was a double winner in the Superstock races but both races this year were cancelled after the schedule was heavily impacted by adverse weather on the Isle of Man.
