Jonny Campbell's third Neil Robinson Trophy win as Christian Elkin seals first Donny Robinson Memorial at Bishopscourt
Lisburn rider Jonny Campbell claimed his third Neil Robinson Trophy victory after a dramatic 12-lap race in sunny conditions at Bishopscourt.
When the lights went out, Carl Phillips grabbed the holeshot on the Bell Bikesport B&W Racing BMW, leading into Turn One ahead of Campbell on the 155 BMW, with Luke Jones aboard the SBT Racing Ducati holding third.
The leading trio remained unchanged until lap six, when Campbell, having closed onto Phillips’ rear wheel, made his move to take the lead. Phillips refused to concede, however, and fought back to reclaim first place on the penultimate lap.
But disaster struck at the final right-hand corner when he lost the front and crashed out, handing Campbell a comfortable victory.

Jones inherited second place, while Jamie Lyons completed the podium on the JLR by Ability Energy Ltd Honda.
“I needed that! It was an unbelievable race and I had a few big moments,” said Campbell. “But I’m over the moon.”
Phillips was left to reflect on what might have been.“I’m running treaded tyres this weekend in preparation for the British Superstock Championship,” he said. “I was pushing as hard as I could on them and actually lapped faster than I ever have around Bishopscourt.
"I got the lead and saw my pit board reading zero, so I let Jonny past as my tyre grid would drop. I planned to follow him, then took the lead again at the chicane on the second-last lap.
"Unfortunately, I pushed a little too hard and lost the front at the final right-hander.”
Second-place finisher Jones was pleased to return to the podium.
“I got a really good start, but when Carl and Jonny came past they were able to hold a slightly tighter line than me and stand the bike up a little bit quicker.
"We’re making really good progress with the bike, though, we’re back on the podium, so no complaints.”
Lyons was also satisfied after battling through the field to claim third.“My bike struggles off the line, but I made up a few places and was able to catch Ryan Gibson to eventually finish third,” he said. “Coming onto the last lap, I thought I could pass Luke, but I lost the front, managed to save it, but I’d lost too much time and settled for third.”
Campbell capped a great weekend by securing a Superbike treble as he took a lights-to-flag victory over Phillips in the final Superbike race.
Luke Jones won the battle with Ryan Gibson for the final podium spot.
Christian Elkin claimed his first Donny Robinson Memorial victory with a commanding performance aboard the Bell Bikesport B&W Racing V2 Ducati.
The Randalstown rider made a lightning-fast start, immediately opening a gap over the chasing pack of team-mate Francesco Faraldo, Oisin Maher and Alex Duncan.
By the chequered flag, Elkin was comfortably clear, while Faraldo held off Maher and Duncan tosecure second place.“I am delighted to win the Donny Robinson Trophy,” he said. “There may not have been the competition there should have been with Korie McGreevy, Saturday’s double winner, plusAdam Brown, the race one winner, both missing.
"But you have to take it while you can...I rode a steady race.
"I was out in the Twin race just before and, in the heat, I was quite tired.
"I went as slowly as I possibly could and still managed to pull away a bit.”
Elkin also enjoyed a hugely successful meeting in the Supertwin class, claiming four victories aboard the RB Engineering Bell Bikesport B&W Aprilia.
