Mike Browne looking forward to 'exciting prospect' of Yamaha R9 switch at Isle of Man TT in third successive season with Russell Racing
Ireland’s Mike Browne will make the switch to a Yamaha R9 Supersport machine with the Russell Racing by Boyce Precision Engineering team in 2026 for the Isle of Man TT and North West 200.
Browne will also ride a 2026 Honda CBR1000RR for Alister Russell’s outfit on the roads this year in the Superbike and Superstock classes.
The next generation Yamaha YZF-R9 will be making its debut on the Mountain Course and Browne admits the new machine represents an “exciting prospect” as he gears up for his third consecutive season with the Northern Ireland team.
“I’m really pleased to be continuing with Russell Racing,” said Browne.

“We’ve built a great relationship over the last couple of years, and the programme for 2026 is a big step.
“The R9 is an exciting prospect, and having competitive machinery across all classes gives us a solid platform to push for results.”
Team owner Russell, who will also run Richard Cooper in the Supersport races at the North West 200 on a Yamaha R9, said the TT was the top objective in 2026.
“The TT is the focal point for us, and this year’s programme reflects how seriously we’re taking it,” he said.
“Mike has the experience and the pace to deliver across every class, and we’re confident the package we’ve put together will allow us to keep moving forward.”
