Scarborough Gold Cup: Dean Harrison doubles up after commanding Supersport win over Peter Hickman

Honda Racing’s Dean Harrison clinched a double at the 80th anniversary Scarborough Gold Cup meeting on Saturday with another commanding performance in the second Supersport race.

This year’s Isle of Man TT Superbike and Senior winner was marginally outside his lap record by a around a tenth of a second as he won by 12.422s from Peter Hickman (Swan Racing by PHR Triumph), with Tom Weeden completing the top three on his Club 77 Triumph ahead of Ireland’s Mike Browne (BPE by Russell Racing Yamaha).

Davey Todd, ninth in the first race on his racing comeback after six months following a crash at the Daytona 200, improved to fifth on the PHR Performance Triumph.

Scottish rider Johnny Stewart, who won four races to make history at the Manx Grand Prix, completed the top six.

Harrison will go into Sunday’s Gold Cup race as a clear favourite after a dominant return to the 2.43-mile woodland course, where he last raced in 2023.
