Led by Visit Belfast, the tourism initiative invited residents and admirers of the city region to champion the places that best capture its character, heritage and creativity.

The ‘Seven Wonders of Belfast’ is the local equivalent of The Seven Wonders of the World which includes the Taj Mahal in India, The Great Wall of China and Rome’s Colosseum.

The first of the ‘Wonders’ to be revealed is a joint entry, one of which welcomed its 10 millionth visitor this year. Titanic Belfast and the Titanic Quarter enjoy an enduring fascination for both domestic and international visitors.

Located beside the slipway where the world’s most famous ship was built, Titanic Belfast tells the White Star liner’s remarkable story from conception and construction to its maiden voyage and place in history.

One of Europe’s largest urban waterfront regeneration projects, the Titanic Quarter is a thriving destination on the Historic Waterfront and Promenade Maritime Mile – home to hotels and apartments, the O2 Arena, W5, Titanic Studios, Titanic Distillery and Pump House and Titanic’s tender ship, the SS Nomadic.

Meanwhile, the other six ‘Wonders’ will be revealed one by one giving the public the chance to celebrate familiar favourites, discover new stories and discuss which city icons made the list!

It’s the first time the public has been asked to vote for a definitive list of Belfast’s most-loved landmarks on this scale.

Visit Belfast Head of Marketing, Gavin McKenna said: “The response to our ‘Seven Wonders’ campaign has been phenomenal.

“More than 10,000 people took the time to vote for their favourite wonder that makes Belfast special to them. This initiative is about much more than compiling a list, it’s a celebration of the stories, memories and shared pride that connect people to our city.

“At a time when Belfast is alive with music and visitors, it is a fitting moment to celebrate the places, and the welcome, that make the city unforgettable.”

‘Seven Wonders’ comes as Belfast continues to enjoy the afterglow of Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, when music, performance and 1.6million revellers filled the city’s streets and venues.

That warm welcome reflects Belfast’s growing international reputation: Time Out ranked it the world’s tenth-friendliest city in 2025, with 61% of surveyed locals describing it as welcoming and friendly.

The ‘Seven Wonders’ weekly reveals will take place on Visit Belfast’s Instagram page where specially commissioned reels will celebrate each landmark. To find out more about Belfast and its landmarks visit visitbelfast.com
