Translink unveils Summer Spinner to inspire local adventures

Translink is turning up the fun this summer with its latest Spin and Go days out initiative, an interactive travel experience designed to inspire spontaneous day trips across Northern Ireland using public transport.

At the heart of the campaign is a bright and bold ‘Spin and Go’ destination wheel, popping up at stations, shopping centres and public spaces throughout the summer. The public are invited to spin the wheel, reveal a destination and plan their adventure – all whilst availing of Translink’s great value fares, such as the £24 Family and Friends ticket for up to two adults and four children, which allows travel on bus and train across Northern Ireland, or the £10 Bus Rambler ticket, which offers unlimited day travel for only £10 on all Ulsterbus, Goldliner, Metro and Glider services within Northern Ireland after 9.15am.

The summer spinner wheel features a mix of much-loved attractions and hidden gems, including the Giant’s Causeway, Titanic Belfast, Derry~Londonderry’s City Walls, plus many more locations all reachable by bus or train.

To make summer journeys even more exciting for younger travellers, Translink will also offer its popular free ‘Little Explorers’ booklet – packed with puzzles, games, and creative activities to keep children entertained while they travel. The booklet will be available at station ticket desks across the network.

Commenting on the seasonal activity, Station Manager, Louise Doyle said: “Summer is all about rediscovering local travel. Belfast Grand Central is a gateway to so many travel options, whether you’re exploring Belfast or connecting to services across Northern Ireland.

"We want to show how easy and enjoyable it is to explore Northern Ireland by public transport – and add a little bit of fun to the journey. The Spin and Go wheel brings a sense of spontaneity and fun, while our wide range of flexible, great-value ticket options makes it easy to get out and about by bus or train.

“With a focus on cleaner, greener travel, we’re encouraging more people to leave the car at home and switch to public transport for a more relaxed and sustainable day out, eliminating the stress of traffic and parking. Plus, with our free ‘Little Explorers’ adventure booklet, younger passengers can enjoy their own creative experience on board. It’s a great way to get connected to local attractions, support greener travel, and make the most of your summer.”
