Covid-19: Mid and East Antrim community groups encouraged to reapply for grants

Mid and East Antrim Council is advising groups involved in community initiatives they can reapply for the Covid-19 Community Grant Scheme once all their funding has been used and the associated receipts returned.

Groups have been able to apply for funding to help and support those in the community who cannot leave their homes and have no or limited support during the crisis.

The Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Councillor Maureen Morrow, said: “It is fantastic to see council’s Community Grant Scheme being accessed to help community groups carry out invaluable work supporting the elderly and vulnerable during the coronavirus situation.

“I would urge community groups, who are eligible to apply for these grants, to do so and in turn more help can be given to those in desperate need.”

The scheme is open to all constituted groups across the borough and is in addition to the usual two grants per annum available to them.

A council-led Community Hub has been set up to coordinate support for vulnerable and isolated persons. The scope of services may evolve dependent upon the escalation (or not) of the Covid–19 pandemic, however, the hub has been established to receive referrals from the health and social care trusts and Advice NI.

If you or someone you know needs the hub and its services, it can be accessed by telephoning 028 9600 1333 or 07918939797 (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm) or by emailing [email protected]
