Shock expressed at passing of Co Armagh cleric
In a Facebook post, St. John’s Church in Rathfriland (Church of Ireland) say: “It is with great sadness that we have to announce the death of our former Rector, the Rev. David Somerville this morning (Saturday 20th February).
“He was Rector of this parish, along with the parish of Ballyward from April 2003 until August 2013, 10 wonderful years. He had the joy of being part of families in happy times of births, baptisms and weddings, but also was a great comfort to many families who suffered bereavement during his 10 years with us. He was known by all in the Rathfriland area as before he went into the ministry he was the RE teacher in Rathfriland High School for 17 years.”

“We also pray for the parish of St. Matthew’s in Richhill who have lost their shepherd so suddenly.”
