A Magherafelt-based company is celebrating landing a lucrative contract to develop the 3D building information model of Tottenham Hotspurs' new 61,000 capacity football stadium.

A director of RCDS (NI) Ltd, Michael Dunbar said the stadium contract was the biggest the company has secured to date and they will be working on it until the end of 2017.

Michael and his business partner Stephen O’Hara set up the company seven years ago when they took a big risk and went out on their own, leaving their jobs at Creagh Concrete.

Initially, they worked from their bedrooms until work started to come in and now they have three offices across Northern Ireland - Magherafelt, Limavady and Lisburn, employing ten people.

Michael, who lives in Magherafelt, says the company will be modelling the precast concrete units within the stadium to include terracing, support beams and stairs.

The total cost of the stadium is estimated at £400 million and its expected to be open in time for the 2018-19 season.

He describes it as a niche market involving highly specialised work. “The Tottenham contract is worth a six figure sum to us,” he explained. “We will have four people working full time on it.”

Michael said the contract comes on the back of a successful 2015 which saw the company pick up first place in the Tekla National BIM Model awards for works at 3 St Pancras Square, London.

They have also worked on prisons, Leeds Arena and Cambridge University students accommodation.

“We have worked on a variety of high profile projects throughout the UK and Ireland and are delighted to be involved in this prestigious project at one of the Premier League’s top football clubs,” he added.
