TT 2026: Debutant and Senior Manx Grand Prix winner Caomhan Canny splits from Scott Racing - 'It became clear continuing together was not possible'

Donegal’s Caomhan Canny has split from Northern Ireland team Scott Racing.

The 2025 Senior Manx Grand Prix winner said he had not taken the decision “lightly” after revealing he withdrew from his Isle of Man TT debut at the end of practice week.

Canny battled handling problems on the Aprilia RSV4 throughout practice week and had decided he would not continue riding the Italian machine at the TT.

However, he later parted ways with the Coleraine-based team altogether, saying it was clear they could not continue.

Canny will now ride his own machine for the rest of 2026, when he intends to compete in as many road races as possible.

“I apologise for being very quiet on here over the course of the year it’s been the most testing year to date of my racing Career,” Canny said in a social media update on his Facebook page.

“Unfortunately i made the decision to withdraw from TT 2026 at the end of Practice week which wasn’t a decision I made lightly with all that has went into getting us there !!

“I can also confirm that I decided to part ways with Scott Racing motorcycles. After recent events, it became clear that continuing together was not possible.

“I’d like to apologise to my sponsors for having to make this decision but we will be back in 2027.

“For the rest of this year we will be back on our own machine and do as much roads as possible along with selected short circuits.

“At this time none of this matters as my thoughts and prayers are with the Family and Friends of Dan Ingham. RIP mate you were a true gentleman!

“Also wishing a speedy recovery to any rider who has sustained injuries over the course of the TT period, Get well soon.”

Canny was fortunate to escape serious injuries in a crash at the Cookstown 100 in April, where he made his debut for Scott Racing.
