Neil Young + Promise of the Real, purveyors of a melodic and ragged sound, will play at the SSE Arena, Belfast on June 7 and at the 3Arena in Dublin on June 8 as part of the Rebel Content Tour, with tickets now on sale from all usual outlets.

During 2015, Promise Of The Real featuring Willie Nelson’s sons Lukas and Micah became Neil Young’s backing band on his 36th studio album, The Monsanto Years, and its accompanying tour.

The US tour, split over two legs in July and October, garnered rave reviews not just for the length of the shows themselves – many three hours or longer – but also for the many rarities that appeared during the setlist with a total of 565 songs played across the 23 shows with some tracks being performed for the first time in over 40 years.

While Young has experimented with differing music styles throughout a varied career, most of his best known work is acoustic folk-rock. His melancholic, defiant lyrics and unvarnished guitar playing fed into the evolution of the grunge genre, with some dubbing him the ‘godfather of grunge’.

Laura Marling will play support for Neil at his Belfast and Dublin shows.
